The Khalifa of Islam advises western nations they must put aside their vested interests in order to truly help developing countries selflessly.
‘Our different ethnic and national backgrounds establish our identity, not superiority,’ said the worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat (His Holiness), Mirza Masroor Ahmad while addressing a special reception at Capitol Hill earlier today.
The event was also attended by house and senate leaders including the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi; Representative Keith Ellison, Senator Robert Casey and Representitive Mike Honda.
Leader Nancy Pelosi called His Holiness Ahmad a visionary and an inspiration; and Senator Robert Casey, on a lighter note, thanked him for bringing the House and the Senate together.
His Holiness should come more often, Senator Casey further remarked.
Rep. Keith Ellison spoke with concern about the Ahmadiyya persecution in certain Muslim countries including Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
Representative Ellison said the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a blessing to America and he thanked His Holiness for the community’s Muslins For Life project that collected over 12,000 units of blood in a nationwide drive last year to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9-11 tragedy.
Everyone rose in respect to welcome His Holiness as he took the podium.
There were more than 300 politicians, human rights activists, and Ahmadi Muslims at the reception and everyone eagerly listens to His Holiness as he spoke asserting that countries must work together to establish lasting peace.
Emphasizing the equal rights of all people, His Holiness said the frustrations of the poor play right into the hands of many extremist groups.
This, Hadhrat Ahmad said, allows extremists groups to take advantage of the aggravations experienced by the underprivileged.
His Holiness said requirements for justice are not being met in the world today.
